Rebecca went to the Royal Academy of Music on Saturdays when she was in her teens, and attended Wells Cathedral School as a specialist musician (flute and composition) while studying A-levels. After completing an undergraduate degree at Oxford University, she undertook a Masters in music leadership at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. She founded an arts organisation in her twenties, when she ran community choirs, created and performed new work, delivered music workshops within schools, and often collaborated with writers and visual artists.
Rebecca has always sung, has a DipABRSM in flute performance, and now plays the accordion, whistles and ukulele. She is a qualified teacher and is now especially interested in traditional folk and maritime music. She visits schools and community groups to deliver workshops in singing, building harmony, and shares the background of the songs, their heritage and their meaning.
Have a look at the Events page to find out when Rebecca is next performing, either on her own or with Black Deep, based in Harwich in North Essex.
